Dean Parade Rental Auction

We the undersigned petition the council to In Dean Parade Camberley there are a number of shop units that have been vacant for at least one year with several of them vacant for many years. That is an iniquitous waste of resources and loss of amenity for the community which should be stopped at the earliest opportunity. At present shop units 3 and 4 (formerly Saffron) have been vacant for more than twelve months and shop units 11, 13 and 16 for many years. We therefore petition Surrey Heath Borough Council to make use of the powers provided to them in Part 10 of the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023 for the letting by Local Authorities of Vacant High-Street Premises by: • Designating Dean Parade, Camberley as a high street for the purposes of Part 10 of the Act due to the concentration of high street uses of premises on the street. • Making full use of the provisions in Part 10 of the Act to bring the shop units in Dean Parade that have been vacant for more than one calendar year during the last two years back in

The Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023 now provides councils such as Surrey Heath with new powers to bring vacant shops back into use and we would like to end the scandal that their landlords have been allowed to leave them unoccupied for so long. Old Dean Community Group therefore resolved at their meeting on 10th January 2024 to petition Surrey Heath Borough Council to make use of the powers they have been given.
