To rebuild or improve the heatherside skatepark

We the undersigned petition the council to To rebuild or improve the heatherside skatepark

This is to either build a new or improve our local skatepark. This is because a lot of people around this area have no where to do our sport apart from the heatherside skatepark. I want to try to get our skatepark improved or newly built as it is quite a small area to skate/scoot and is also used for a “hanging out” area. There are a lot of unsociable activities that go on at the skatepark and if it is extended/ newly built then more friendly and safe people will be able to attend making the whole recreation ground safer for others aswell. It is also not very good for skateboards and there isn’t many places local for us to go and when we do go to other places we get people complaining at us. If there is a new skatepark built then it will solve all these solutions.

Council response

Cllr Rebecca Jennings-Evans, the Places & Strategy Portfolio Holder has provided the following response to this e-petition:

"Thank you for your interest in the skate park at Heatherside. The current skate-park equipment is showing as having a serviceable life of between 3 and 5 years before we would consider it needing to be replaced. In the meantime we have identified some works to improve the current facility that will see the ramps being improved and repainted to add improved grip to the ramps. These works will be completed within the next month."
