Surrey Heath Sports Council

Description

To promote, support and encourage participation in all forms of sports as recognised by 'Sports England'.  To assess the sporting needs of the Borough of SH, having due regard to existing facilities and to help with catering for these needs:  Examine the need for improving existing facilities:   Offer advice to SHBC and other organisations on the improvement of existing and provision of new ones: Assist with the dissemination of information on available sporting facilities:  Take such action as the Sports Council deem necessary on reports and recommendations from any organisations dealing with sports in the Borough:  Administer and allocate, to non- profit organisations, such funds and grants as may be available to the Sports Council from public funds:  Provide grants to exceptional individuals, subject to sporting status, clubs and other voluntary organisations in the Borough for the initial purchase of sports equipment, clothing and technical apparatus directly related to sporting participation for Borough residents.  Assist with costs deemed necessary by these exceptional individuals and groups.

 

Councillor Representative Role: one of the representatives will be by virtue of office – Business Portfolio Holder. Meetings held quarterly at 7pm in Surrey Heath House. To give an impartial view and take an interest in the allocation of funds.
