Application Number: 23/0003/FFU Southcote Park, Portsmouth Road, Camberley

Minutes:

The application was for the installation of one new lighting column and the replacement of the light heads on the existing three lighting columns in the car park of Southcote Park.  The application would ordinarily have been determined under the Council’s Scheme of Delegation however it had been brought to the Committee for consideration because the Council was the applicant.

The proposed and replacement lights would be energy efficient LED lights and it was intended that the changes proposed would allow for extra illumination in order to enhance the use of an established recreational area and ensure a safe environment within the local area by discouraging anti-social behavior.  It was reported that the Environmental Health Team had confirmed they were satisfied that any light spill arising from the changes would not have a detrimental impact on the immediate environment.

The officer’s recommendation that the application, as set out in the report and the update sheet, be approved was proposed by Councillor Hawkins, seconded by Councillor Perry put to the vote and carried unanimously.

RESOLVED that application 23/0003/FFU be approved.

NOTE 1

It was noted for the record that Councillor Edward Hawkins’ wife had been instrumental in progressing the proposed lighting improvements in her capacity as the local ward councilor.
